Hoover F5914 – Hoover Steamvac With Clean Surge

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

Get ready to bust the dirt and clean your carpet. Now, you can save much more of having to rent a steam cleaner and getting your rugs, upholstery, and bare floors like a brand new. Thanks to the Hoover F5914-900 SteamVac with Clean Surge which features a powerful 12-amp motor with five spinning/scrubbing brushes that operate at either high or low speed and cleans carpets and lifts usual dirt!

By pulling on the trigger in the comfortable upright handle, this deep cleaner releases the included carpet/upholstery cleaner and hot tap water. Also, Clean Surge feature gives extra burst of cleaning solution for spots or stains by simply pressing a button on the handle. It allows you to dispense 50% effective solution on your carpet for those high traffic areas or spots. Utilizes heated air from the motor to assist in the cleaning and drying process, release the trigger and the SteamVac forces hot air into the cleaning path so you can do a few dry strokes over the stain.

When attached to the 8-foot stretch hose, a powered hand tool with two SpinScrub brushes is a great accessory for deep cleaning on stairs, upholstery, or hard-to-reach areas. The Hoover F5914-900 SteamVac with Clean Surge also has two separate tanks for clean solution and dirty-water collection. With all of these powerful features, youll now have a clear idea how cleaning has been so much easier than before.

The F5914 really cleans carpets well. On my worst carpet area, the cleaner did as well as a commercial carpet cleaner. I recommend the following to make it a successful cleaning:
1) I supplement the hot water with some boiling water to really get the temperature up. By the time the water hits the spray nozzle, it has really cooled off so make it hotter. Bissell uses a heater, but it can’t be that powerful without reducing motor power. Best to supplement.
2) Patience. Go slow and go over really bad areas. You will HAVE to pretreat and hand wash heavy stains, but so do the pros. Don’t expect a diamond out of coal. You still have to do the work.
3) Clean often. I have one carpet that I waited way too long and it just won’t come clean. The pros can’t and I can’t. BIG lesson learned there.

Have fun with this. I can’t believe how much dirt there was in my “clean” areas, so it will be great to have this around to clean when I desire to. I saved more than the price of the cleaner this weekend.

Hoover F5914-900 – 5 Thumbs Up

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

When the Hoover F5914-900 arrived in just 3 or 4 days which I thought was very fast for free delivery I found it very well packed without any damage. The Hoover F5914-900 came with easy to read instructions which made it easy to assemble. We bought it to clean our den & one bedroom. I’m not an expert carpet cleaner but I feel like one now, it’s very easy to use the Hoover F5914-900 and did an excellent job.

Unfortunately I am allergic to cat dander, and have experienced using carpet cleaning companies and renting steam cleaning machines with horrible allergic results due to the cleaners being used at cat infested houses! The Hoover F5914-900 is by far the best alternative to rentals and companies, as it cleans the carpet nearly as well as the companies, and much better than rentals.

After reviewing a variety of brands and models I settled on the Hoover F5914-900 because I liked the idea of the Clean Surge and found more favorable reviews than some other popular brands and models. Plus, on Amazon, the cost was substantially less than any discount store, and free shipping! I must admit that I went over every inch of carpeting in my home 4+ times, but it was well worth it and it needed it. No other professional cleaning service ever spent that much time or did anywhere near the quality that I got out of this machine. I thought the edger comes quite close to the edges of the room and did a fine job getting into the corners. Even after going over some worn areas many times, applying several layers of water, the suction was strong enough that the carpet was dry in the morning (I finished around 9:00 PM). My carpet looks very good with 14 years of wear. Though the water tank holds only a gallon, and it was a pain to have to stop, empty and refill frequently, it went farther than one would think. When the unit arrived, assembling the cleaner took only a little time, but no experience or expert skills using tools was necessary. But, be careful. Unit and parts are plastic, yuk. The generous electrical cord is long enough to cross any of my standard or slightly oversized rooms. Would recommend the Hoover F5914-900 to anyone, though I have no other with which to compare.
